Passionate about Alpacas… their qualities of fiber and their products.
Rugs… We can’t say enough about them. We shear the alpacas once a year. We bag their fiber based on color, quality and lengths. Each alpaca grows their fiber in different qualities based on their genetics and environment. The different qualities are also grown on different parts of their body. So sorting is an art and a task! Once we get the shearing day sorting done, we store the bags for later sorting. The second sorting is to make sure what we send off to have rugs made is what we want coming back in rugs. It’s very important that the rug maker gets thicker or wider fiber that is 3 inches or longer. This fiber eventually gets wrapped around a cord and then this cord gets hand loomed into works of art.
Our rugs are personally in our home and appreciate the durability and beauty that each one of them demonstrate. The joy I get from these rugs is that I know, every animal we have has contributed some how to the products we make… every animal has rug quality… you just have to find it!
